Why does the TG700 have an Ethernet connection but no RS232 port?

Question :

Why does the TG700 have an Ethernet connection but no RS232 port?

Answer :

The Ethernet port allows greater flexibility for remote control than the RS232 port. Network connections allow faster connection than RS232 and are becoming more commonplace. The Ethernet port allows greater access to equipment from remote locations and the ability to use several software applications supplied on a CD-ROM with the unit. These software applications allow the user to backup, duplicate, restore unit configurations, download signals, logos, frame patterns and to remote control the TG700.
