I have connected my OTDR to my fiber under test and when a test is started I receive error message "Poor Front panel connection". What are the possible causes and solutions to this error?
1. The connection at the front panel is dirty.
2. Fiber end on OTDR is damaged.
Send OTDR in for repair
3. The launch cable is bad.
4. The fiber under test is to short for the test mode selected.
When InteliTrace, or End of Fiber setting is selected you need at least 100+ meters of fiber connected.
If the fiber is short use Manual setting and use a short pulse. If you trust that the connection is good then continue the test.
5. Laser/detector in OTDR is or has failed.
Send in for repair.
